Are you confident dealing with your mortgage broker?

Rightly or wrongly my business has been brought into disrepute. Last night on TVNZ’s Close Up, a piece focused on Kerry Buddle, a former mortgage broker working in the Kapiti Coast area. She was portrayed by the show as borrowing money from clients for various projects, which appear to be fictitious. As a mortgage broker myself, there is a challenge of client confidence which needs to be addressed.

Naturally I am saddened by the practices of this individual. I don’t think it matters what industry or organisation you belong to, you must work with the best intentions of your client at heart, and you must strive to be honest and deal with integrity at all times. It doesn’t matter whether you are a mortgage broker, accountant, doctor, or truck driver. There are always some in your industry who will bring all into question.

I am however happy that those who have been duped have the courage to stand up and tell their story. This is not an easy thing to do. It’s hard to tell others that you have been made to look foolish. And so my heart goes out to them.

You should feel confident in using a mortgage broker. If you are not, then give me a call.

My job is   not to borrow money from, or lend money to my clients. My job is to find the best finance solution from a third party provider (generally a bank). It’s that plain and simple. You tell me what you want to borrow money for, and how much you want to borrow, then I go out and work to find a lender willing to lend you the money, and at conditions that are beneficial to you.

So then, why use a mortgage broker? Why call me and not go to your bank? Simply put, I can take care of negotiating the best deal on your behalf. Sometimes this is with your existing bank, sometimes not. You want to make sure that you get the best interest rate and the best fee structure possible. Dealing with a bank can be a frightening task. However as I deal with them on a regular basis, I am able to let you know what they need and in a format that will help you get what you want, but without the pain.

Mortgages are not always as straight forward as they seem.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me to ask.
